BARCELONA!

so i was reading a web entry my friend mel posted of all the places she wanted to visited and one of them was barcelona....that immediately made me want to look at pics from my trip. then i remembered i never posted them on xanga. so almost a year later, here they are. there's a lot cause stephanie is a bit camera-happy

this is me and stephanie on our way to the airport.

funniest thing at our hostel (which was seriously beautiful cause it was a real spanish design home with tall narrow windows and doors and pillars everywhere, plus it was painted and decorated all bright)

us on a bike tour of barcelona...so pretty/cool to see the city by bike. but it was kind of scary sometimes cus we're riding on the road during crazy traffic

the sights:

funny building on the beach

Barcelona has all these great designed buildings, like it’s out of a fantasy. All designed by Antoni Gaudi...it’s so surreal to see them everywhere

These really pretty purple flowers are everywhere in Barcelona, probably where I got my newly found love of color purple now that I think about it.

My people! thousands of pigeons hang out in Plaza something…can’t remember name.

one of the main tourist spot as well as a huge shopping center for natives.

Statue for Christopher Columbus

The famous Sagrada Familia (Church of the Sacred Family) originally designed by Gaudi

This cathedral won’t be finished for another 100 years!

The back, which was what was first built

The front

The pillars are suppose to resemble trees.

So this Gaudi character also designed this park, called Park Güell and it’s up this great hill so it has a good view of the city.

Step wanted to go see this castle. So we went, not knowing what a pain in the ass it would be to walk there.

It felt like climbing a mountain.

BUT the view was more than worth it.

LASTLY, the best part, the FOOD of Barcelona

There is the market which is MASSIVE. Sells every type of food: meat, fish, candy, sweets, fruit, veggies so i really want to go back to Barcelona. any takers? (other than evelyn who already called me to tell me she wants to go)

Are you aware?

World AIDS Day

Today is World AIDS Day... Though i never understood why you need to assign a day to remember things...like father's day and christmas...do you think i won't remember my dad or Christ except on those assigned days?

A lot of abouts have been discovered since the 1980s, which is when they first started becoming an pandemic disease.

A lot more needs to be learned in order for it to be cured or to at least know how to retard it.

on another note...

I am just completely and utterly lost

My baby water turtles have died. both of them. within 24 hours of each other. I'm sad and confused because I seriously don't think it's my fault. I did everything right. I gave them heat, water, food and love.  here is the really sad thing though, I only had them for a week.

I bought them at Madrona Marsh last saturday through a turtle adoption event. They were SO cute.

I named them Aaron and Gabe. I took them to PetCo where I spend $60  for their water tank, water filter, heating lamp, and food. I also spent an entire afternoon setting up their home.

Aaron was a sleeper. all he did was sleep on the bricks all day, sunbathing in the light.

Gabe was the swimmer. he could swim so well.

This is a pic. of Aaron: (I didn't even have time to take a picture of Gabe, who had a very cool design on it's shell)

turtles 002

Isn't he so small? Gabe and Aaron were so small they could both fit on one hand and still have room to spare.

I buried them both under a nice big tree at Lago Seco Park with Shannon.

I'm depressed so no mean jokes about me not being able to keep animals alive.

so i felt a little down today and decided to relive the life i had in London.

it's not naturally for me to think about London so much...can't seem to help it

whenever school is getting me stress...which is everyday it seems...i want to go away.

this semester has been one of the worst. i feel like i am being spread a little to thin.

Home Again

So I am back in the good old USA. I landed on May 5th 2006 at 1:34 pm.

My flight was at 10:48 am (London time). I was on that plane for over 10 hours. Didn't sleep all night cause me and my flatmates was having a last hurrah. I didn't sleep on the plan because two rows in front of me there were two toddlers that were crying. feeling bad for the mom, I did origami with them.

I also got to watch Big Mamma's House 2, Last Holiday, Chronicles of Narnia (twice!), Transporter 2.

anyways. landed safe and sound. saw my parents and family. my sister landed from Chicago two hours later. saw her.

I went to my aunt's house. ate and played with my cousins.

Got home around 9:00 pm, which is like 5 in the morning back at London. I was up for over 24 hours.

It's okay though. my parents' welcome home gift made up for it. I finally got my pearls.

Custom made necklace with matching bracelet and earrings. I am a happy girl.

It's nice (i guess) to be back home. even i left part of my heart in London. MUST GO BACK...i LOVED LOVED LOVED all the time i spent on the otherside of the Atlantic.
